Gratitude

This is the time of year where we think about what we are thankful for. Gratitude can be a very powerful action. Even if you take a few minutes each day or once a year to reflect on the things, people, experiences, opportunities, and more that you are thankful for, you will discover the power of gratitude. It can ground you, lift your self-esteem and confidence, warm your core with love, and help you to see how beautiful and amazing life is.  With this being Thanksgiving week, I thought I would take a moment and share with you my list of gratitude.

  1. I am thankful for my family and the support and love they offer me each day as I go through life's journey.
  2. I am thankful for my home to keep me warm and safe.
  3. I am thankful for my friends that provide me with joy, comfort, support, and a place to let my feelings be set free.
  4. I am thankful for my new friends who have amazing spirits and warmth. I am grateful for their kindness, support, and compassion.
  5. I am thankful for myself and my courage to face each day with new strength and to continue to move forward in my healing journey.
  6. I am thankful for my son and the precious gifts he provides me - learning and experiencing life through a child's eyes.
  7. I am thankful for my husband and the clarity and encouragement he gives me every day.
  8. I am thankful that I am able to provide for my family.
  9. I am thankful that I am able to use my skills to help support and encourage others like being able to share my story with all of you.
  10. I am thankful that I am me.
Please take a few minutes now and write your list of gratitude. It can be something that you share or something that you tuck away in a safe place and pull out to read on those tough days. It is quite freeing and empowering to do this.

Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!

Childish ways

After reading and thinking about the Four Agreements, I want to continue discussing our authentic self. I think the Four Agreements is one vital way to help me on my journey to being my authentic self.

I have been thinking about one of the sections that I wrote about. In finding your true self, I think it is important to reflect back on your childhood. I want each of you to take a moment and think about what you wanted to be when you were a child. Why did you dream of becoming that person? What made it seem like fun? It may seem silly, but by pondering these questions it is a way to help you discover an amazing amount of precious wisdom about who you are.

I recently did this and after 15 years of my professional life, I was dumb-founded by what it revealed. It was like this secret me has been sitting right in front of my face the whole time, but I chose to look around her and be the person I was expected to be. Maybe that is why I have felt so unsettled for so long professionally.

When I think back to my childhood, I have fond memories of playing teacher. I would get all of my stuffed animals and put them around my bed. I would make up lessons to teach them and grade their papers. I would read them stories and play at recess. It brings a smile to my face. My other memory that pops up is that I truly enjoyed playing with my Legos and watching Scooby-Doo. When I think about what I liked about the Legos, it was creating and building the town, the cars, the homes, the post office and more. Scooby-Doo and the gang were awesome at finding the clues and solving mysteries. The other childhood memory I have is wanting to stay inside at recess and helping the librarian. This was a way for me to explore the books and be taken on an adventure to some other place or time or to learn something new.

This provides such a wonderful look into who I am. I love to teach, learn and create. Scooby-Doo - I love the mystery and the challenge of figuring things out. So when I look back over my professional life, I realize that in every position I held, I enjoyed the creation and development of programs and the ability to teach others and learn from them. I always found a way to bring these aspects into my job. Once that piece was no longer an option, I found that I was bored and would look for something else. Wow - only 15 years and a little guidance to figure that one out!

I am having a blast learning about nutrition, wellness, coaching and creating and building my business! I cannot wait to reach out and teach others about ways to feel healthy and happy and live their life as they want to. I am so excited to start this new beginning. Are you ready to find you? It is exciting and I promise you, if you follow your dreams, they will come true. The essence of you will come out and you will be able to move ahead. Good luck!
